Planting my babies

I must give a shout out to my girlfriend Tara. She puts up with a lot from me.  She on the other hand did not give me any trouble about going out and dropping $100 (ish) on gardening supplies. I needed plants, dirt, and tools. She happily stood buy while I played in the dirt.

I have been getting most of my plants from Fortino’s garden center. They were open first, around the corner and had an awesome selection to pick from. I was kind of annoyed that Terra greenhouse did not have any of the plants that I really wanted. Sure, I had to wait 2 weeks for delivery, but that is on me. I am still annoyed that they did not set aside my order. I will still be purchasing from them, because I am not that petty, and their black earth compost mix is deadly.

The first lady I put in was my strawberry plant I got from my mother in one of my care packages. Mom also knows how much Tara loves strawberries and I wanted to grow lots for her. I can always use the good boy points.

Strawberry

My main idea with planting is to just use enough of the fancy expensive mix for the plants directly. Once they take root, I will fill in other plants in their section.  This will hopefully have more of an impact (and cheaper) then filling the full bed and planting in that. Hopefully, this idea was not terrible.  We shall see.

Peppers

My peppers were one of the strongest looking seedlings I had at the time. They went in right beside the strawberries.

Lettuce

I put the lettuce beside the strawberries because I needed to fill in a little room of that bed. Sure, strawberries like to spider out and take over, but I thought the lettuce would be fine beside it.

Beans

Tomatoes and Leaks

Spinach

I'm scared that my strawberries have been stunted. So, I snuck in a little spinach in that bed to compensate.

Hot Peppers and Swiss Chard

I picked Swiss Chard because I’ve herd that it grows like stink in the garden. I also like the colours of it. The peppers were cheap and were very sturdy.
